POSITION TITLE: CADC/Substance Abuse Specialist

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION: CADC1

REPORTS TO: SUD Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: 1 FTE Exempt

Salary: DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides professional alcohol and drug treatment services to persons with alcohol and drug problems. Performs client evaluations/assessments, and develops individualized Service plans; provides individual, family and group counseling; provides crisis services; does related work as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Conducts A&D Interviews and Bio-psycho-social Assessments of individuals self referred or referred by other agencies or programs. Formulates DSM-V diagnosis and uses ASAM PPC-2R to formulate treatment recommendations and reports recommendations to the client, appropriate agencies and programs

  • Makes referrals to residential programs when appropriate

  • Makes referrals to other community resources and programs when appropriate

  • Develops individualized Service Plans with input from clients and families when appropriate.

  • Coordinates treatment/case planning with community partners.

  • Consults with community partners as appropriate/requested Attends weekly drug court sessions

  • Screens for potential co-morbidity and refers clients to Mental Health services when appropriate

  • Coordinates treatment/case planning with mental health program when appropriate

  • Provides outpatient treatment in the form a of individual, group, and family treatment as appropriate

  • Monitors compliance of A&D program

  • Provide regular reports regarding status and progress to appropriate agencies and partners

  • Follows all guidelines for Certified DUI Rehabilitation, Education and outpatient treatment programs the Oregon Administrative Rules. .

  • Oversees drug testing services Provides community education around issues related to A&D use and treatment. Works collaboratively with Wallowa Valley Together Project on prevention programming.

  • Attends and facilitates A&D Treatment Team

  • Attends MH treatment team regularly

  • Works collaboratively with The Wallowa County Treatment Court, DHS, JCP, and other programs, attending planning meetings, family decision meetings, and other meetings as appropriate Conduct ongoing research into latest statistics/issues related to A&D abuse and treatment

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

  • CADC 1, or willingness to obtain CADC 1 certification

  • Ability to read, write and understand service and case management notes for assessment and service documentation

  • Ability to work with a team, both within the organization and the community to coordinate services for clients

  • Ability to manage self care to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue

  • Ability to accept feedback in order to build skills, meet organizational requirements and continually improve the quality of services offered.

This position requires the handling of highly confidential information. Must adhere to rules and laws pertaining to client confidentiality.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must be able to communicate information in both oral and written form with the ability to present and exchange information internally across teams and co-workers, and externally with clients and the public, Information communicated ranges from routine/ basic information to complex and confidential information

LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK:

Must be able to work effectively and constructively with other office staff, clinicians, the administrative team and all other staff. Participates in staff meetings.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

This position requires you to be regularly available for work as scheduled. Position requires professional and personal skills to cope with stress associated with work involving a high degree of mental and emotional demands. This position also requires the ability to bend, stoop, push and pull. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment and the noise level is usually moderate, but occasionally may be exposed to loud noise such as raised voice levels and alarms. Occasionally the work environment may extend to other community offices, residential houses, and off-site locations.

This position may be exposed to the everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as an office (i.e., moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and electrical shock). This person will be serving clients from all demographics within the community. WVCW is a Trauma informed Organization and this person is expected to be an example of Trauma Informed Care in the workplace.
