Job Summary:
Just-Evotec Biologics is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Buyer that desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. The role will be responsible for procuring the goods and services necessary for biologics discovery research, process development and manufacturing. This team member will have the means and opportunity to contribute to the success of the company and its clients by making high-quality and cost-effective purchasing decisions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills and will have a keen eye for detail, a win-win mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master items list; clarifies unclear items; recommends alternatives, ensures accounting codes are correct and items fall within budget
- Works closely with business units and cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements and forecasts, communicates such needs with critical vendors
- Monitor requisitions for need date and approval status
- Monitor requisitions for completeness, work with internal customers where appropriate
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price quotes; obtains recommendations from suppliers for substitute items
- Obtains purchased items by communicating orders to suppliers.
- Monitor open order report for timely arrival, communicates with users where appropriate
- Return product ensuring all information is captured in appropriate systems
- Monitor incomplete invoice and credit memo
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Working with Director to present at Vendor business review
- Process change order requests
- Oversees supplier-related activities and supplier performance to ensure KPIs are met including documentation of cost savings
- Identifies opportunities to improve supply chain speed, efficiency, and inventory investment
- Partners with the Operations organization to understand upcoming needs and proactively communicates challenges impacting inventory availability
- Drives continuous improvement with suppliers utilizing systems and tools to monitor and report supplier performance and corrective action
- Recommends improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve cycle time, resources and vendor relationships
- S/he will collaborate with Finance and Manufacturing to understand the long-range demand and capacity plan, proactively identify, communicate and mitigate gaps, and execute potential opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by (Sr.) Director of Procurement
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of Supply Chain experience in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Aerospace or Automotive industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Entrepreneurial Spirit and excellent communication skills
- Strong systems background, including ERP and current e-procurement solutions
- Worked in a regulated environment with a Quality Management System
- Lean Six Sigma experience or willingness to obtain
- Familiar with Import and Export Compliance and Procedures
- Experience working directly with CMO or CROs
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $70,000 to $100,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
