The Buyer will have responsibility for managing the in-bound supply chain for Sun Nuclear Corporation’s (SNC) products. This includes placing purchase orders and managing suppliers for on-time delivery, actioning pull-in/push-out triggers from MRP, and keeping SNC’s inventory liability and costs to a minimum. The Buyer will manage a wide range of electronic and mechanical components, subassemblies, and electro-mechanical parts and work at the company’s headquarters in Melbourne, Florida.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Utilize MRP data/ reports to generate purchase orders (PO), manage open PO’s to ensure suppliers deliver on time.
  • Maintain the system data (Infor VISUAL ERP system) on a real-time basis and ensure its accuracy such that it can be used to make customer commitments.
  • Generate RFQ (request for quote) followed by cost analysis, negotiate pricing, payment terms and terms and conditions to acquire materials from best sources to achieve best value for the company
  • Lead the effort in defining a disposition plan for all parts that are placed in MRB either upon receipt, during production, or return from a customer. Work with quality to develop and execute recovery plan with the input of planning and engineering. Coordinate the return of defective material to supplier if appropriate.
  • Maintain inventory levels for purchased parts in accordance with established policies and goals throughout the product lifecycle while achieving optimal costs targets.
  • Assist in selection and qualification of suppliers in collaboration with supply chain management, engineering and quality.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with sourcing mechanical components and/or, Printed Circuit Board Assemblies or other complex assemblies, ability to interpret drawings and read bill of materials for sourcing purposes desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MRP systems, VMI, Kanban, lean manufacturing and demand-pull systems.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, exhibiting collaborative and creative approaches to achieve results.
  • Strong analytical skills and use of Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
  • Good understanding of total cost of ownership and how it applies to decision making.

Academic Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience, or equivalent.
  • Professional Certifications such as APICS or ISM preferred.
