POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of School Age and Day Camp and the Child Care Director, the bus driver will be responsible for transporting children to and from school and on field trips.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Adhere strictly to pre-determined route schedules
  • Report any delays, problems, incidents or accidents to supervisor
  • Check the condition of the bus to ensure everything is in working condition and complete bus inspections & mileage report as directed, report any issues to supervisor
  • Comply with all traffic regulations to ensure safety
  • Follow safety rules as children board and exit the bus
  • Follow directions and maps for destinations
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation
  • Keep bus clean, sweep floors and pick up garbage after each route; check seats and close windows
  • Keep bus fueled
  • Assist staff on bus in maintaining order among children by interacting with children at their level and providing supervision for a safe environment
  • At end of route, check each seat and under each seat to make sure ALL children have exited, then turn off alarm
  • Remain professional in all aspects of the position by being patient, mature and dependable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Obtain and maintain a valid CDL with passenger/school bus endorsement
  • Current CPR/AED certification preferred; required within 30 days of hire
  • Maintain a good driving record
  • Must complete appropriate background/ fingerprint check requirements upon hire
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Any physical demands essential to the specific position
  • The ability to lift 40 lbs
  • The ability to interact with children at their level
