Job Summary
Supervises, coordinates, monitors and participating in the maintenance and repair of all physical assets and problems associated with these assets in the best interest of The Salvation Army; performs more difficult or technical repair work; assists in ensuring all repair work is conducted in compliance with established policies and procedures; observes safety hazards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in all phases of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.

Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and air conditioning equipment.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.

Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of general supervision and management.

Ability to supervise, prioritize, motivate, train and monitor the work of subordinate maintenance employees.

Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.

Ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.

Education and Experience
Two years course work from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air condition, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades; and two years progressively responsible experience performing and supervising skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License

Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to type and keypunch data into a computer.

Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift heavy (50-100 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Work primarily in an office environment; however, time is spent outside or driving a vehicle (approximately 25% to 50% of the time) exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.
