Josiah HaynesTitle: Building-Based Substitute TeachersFunction: The role of the Building-Based Substitute Teacher is to maintain classroom discipline and to carry on the classroom procedures as if he/she were the regular teacher. The Building-Based Substitute Teacher will maintain the same responsibilities and the same duties as the regular teacher, including bus duty and playground supervision. In the absence of the teacher, the Building-Based Substitute will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while following any lesson plans and/or instructions left by the classroom teacher. He/She will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in and out of the classroom.Duties: 1.Assigned to rotate into various teaching positions in the school on a daily basis and possibly throughout the day2.Implement teacher lesson plans and administrator directives with fidelity and efficiency3.Communicate with classroom teachers or school administrators regarding expectations for student work, behavior, and lesson execution4.Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.5.Ensure the teachers absence does not cause an interruption in classroom instruction6.Gain familiarity with district curriculum and resources7.Attend and contribute in staff meetings and professional development activities as assigned by principal or their designee8.Perform supervisory duties as assigned (such as lunch, bus, or recess duty)9.Abide by state statutes, school committee policies and regulations 10.Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by principal or designee11.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities12.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations13.Report all suspicions of abuse and/or neglect to DCYF and the principal14.Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information15.Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the District16.Ability to be flexible with job assignments as needed17.Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g.

instructional technology)18.Assume responsibility for other duties and responsibilities that may be assignedRate: $125/day, full time only, health and dental benefits available.
