Bookkeeper (part-time) Job at Sea Green Horticulture
Looking to hire a part time, in person, bookkeeper to take over duties from the current bookkeeper who is scaling back their hours.
The main job is entering and filing credit card and bank transactions into QB Desktop from receipts and statements, reconciling monthly accounts, and running biweekly payroll. Other bookkeeping and admin duties are listed below.
Great opportunity to gain hands on experience with Quickbooks and learn the ins and outs of business admin.
Sea Green is a luxury garden design and maintenance firm focused on eco-conscious practices and native plantings, creating beautiful and wild garden spaces on private estates mostly in Washington and Litchfield CT.
Looking for 8-12 hours per week to start, with potential for more depending on level of experience. Prefer 2 days a week, 4-6 hours each day, but open to a flexible arrangement, willing to work around other commitments.
Proficiency with Quickbooks for PC, Excel, and Google Drive, Sheets, & Docs a must. Minimum 2 years of Quickbooks experience required. Paychex experience a plus.
NOTE: This is an in-office position, at our home office in Winsted, with the possibility of hybrid remote work eventually.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Quickbooks data entry including expenses, receiving payments, some payables, & biweekly payroll journal for multiple companies and rental properties
- Monthly reconciling of bank and credit card statements
- Online filing monthly and quarterly sales tax
- Running Bi-weekly payroll using Quickbooks Time and Paychex
- Managing all paper filing
- Keeping office organized and supplies in stock
- Filing/paying local taxes
- Opening & managing mail
There is potential for the right person to help the owner with more administrative tasks as well, some more visually design based such as organizing & editing photos of garden work, creating visual presentations for garden design proposals (from templates), creating estimates in google sheets, sourcing materials, etc.

- Highly organized and detailed oriented
- With basic understanding of GAAP
- Who can sit down and cruise through data entry in QB
- With ability to take direction, prioritize and multitask
- Who enjoys working both collaboratively and independently
