Job Summary
Perform various financial functions, and billing procedures for Substance Use Disorder Services (SUD).
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
- Maintain current knowledge of, generate claims and complete billings for private pay, various county CMHs, other third party insurance carriers within stated deadlines
- Provide assurance that all progress notes are entered and signed prior to claim submission and that all financial records, reports and billings are accurate
- Reconcile bank deposits and credit card payments for SUD services
- Identify, track down and correct billing rejections, proactively coordinate with funding sources regarding billing and receivable issues
- Identify and contact funding sources to collect overdue receivables
- Prepare monthly reconciliations and reports, and distribute as necessary
- Prepare monthly journal entries for revenues and receivables
- Help maintain the database for the SUD billing system, review regularly with program management/supervisors
- Support the SUD program with monthly accounts receivable meetings with supervisors and management related each county, billing, database or document issues
- Assist supervisor with various projects
Job Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
- Some accounting courses or associates degree
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred
Experience
- 1+ years medical billing experience
- 2+ years accounting experience, preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply commonsense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic forms
- Ability to work constructively with supervisor and staff remotely and on location
- Ability to understand and apply various accounting, data processing and general office principles
- Ability to perform job functions with a high degree of accuracy
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing various computer applications, including and not limited to Word and Excel. Excellent data-entry skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with client, employee and organization information
- Ability to maximize technology and perform work in a paperless environment
- Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in achieving common goals. Ability to work constructively with staff and other stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural context
- Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to prepare letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
- Ability to manage multiple functions of a complex organization. Strong organizational skills
