TITLE: Bereavement Coordinator
SCHEDULE: Full Time (32 Hours/week)
HOURS: 8:30am-5pm
Office: Sunnyvale

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bereavement Coordinator works collaboratively with the Director of Bereavement Services and is responsible for the organization, coordination and implementation of a broad range of grief support and grief education programs and materials for all 3 branch sites. This position provides non clinical training and support to bereavement volunteers.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • In conjunction with Director and Managers of Bereavement Services coordinates, facilitates and supervises the facilitation of agency sponsored bereavement events, in particular Memorial Remembrance Events, on-site and in the community for all 3 branch offices.
  • In conjunction with Director and Managers of Bereavement Services, develops, coordinates, facilitates and supervises the facilitation of agency sponsored bereavement support groups and workshops both on-site and in the community.
  • Supports the process with Directors and Mangers of the Bereavement Services and the Volunteer Department for the recruitment, training and support of bereavement volunteers to provide bereavement services and programs.
  • In collaboration with the Director and Managers of Bereavement Services coordinates, develops and conducts grief support trainings and grief education workshops for the agency and for the community.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of materials to promote bereavement programs.
  • Assist in making provisions or referrals for grief counseling for individuals and families for our Pathways clients and for the community.
  • Maintains statistical data regarding utilization of grief support services and attendance at education events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with skills, training and the goals and mission of the agency and the bereavement department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BSW or MSW or equivalent degree
  • Experience in group facilitation
  • Experience in supervising and/or supporting volunteers
  • Experience working with people facing issues related to terminal illness, death and dying, grief and loss individually or in a group setting
  • Experience with supporting program development, training and public speaking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Able to work cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team in a multi- cultural environment with all levels of management and staff
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Windows environment
