JOB TITLE: Beautician

ACCOUNTABILITY: Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY: The Beautician is the primary licensed cosmetologist for the Community. The Beautician will provide cosmetology services to the men and women residents including haircuts, shampoo, hair styles, permanents, hair color, beard trims, nail care, and other related services of a licensed beautician. Working schedule is one day/week with flexibility to meet the resident’s needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be able to respond to flexible scheduling
• Provide beautician services to the residents
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the salon at Ahva Living of East Dubuque
• Assist with transporting residents to and from their apartment to their appointments when needed
• Document all beautician services
• Attend in-service/training for staff regarding activities for all levels of functioning
• Attend ongoing training for staff regarding dementia residents
• Assist with planning the activity calendar according to the residents’ needs for beautician services
• Assist with inventory of beautician equipment and supplies
• Promote and encourage participation with beautician services
• Attend in-service, mandatory meetings and other meetings as needed
• Be a part of the safety team and committees as assigned by the Executive Director
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE), as required
• Fill in, as needed or requested
• Respond to smoke and fire alarm systems
• Answer the telephone promptly and courteously
• Share ideas and comments you feel would benefit the Community
• Follow all Policies a& Procedures and the Employee Handbook
• Uphold confidentiality and Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
• Comply with all state regulations as the apply to Assisted Living
• Complete incident report forms, as necessary, for residents, self and co-workers
• Fill out work orders when maintenance needs arise
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

• High school diploma or GED
• Certificate in Cosmetology or other required training
• 1 year of job-related experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in a senior care atmosphere

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• No nights
• No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

• East Dubuque, IL 61025: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Cosmetology License (Required)
