Barn Attendant Job at neMarc Professional Services Inc
Summary
Work under the direction of the assigned supervisor to handle the feeding and maintenance of horses. The position requires experience working with horses and attending to them properly.
Duties:
- Inspects and cleans the stalls daily. Must ensures that the barn floor is clean.
- Fill water buckets and feed bins. Provide food and water for horses throughout the day.
- Washes horse bays and tack rooms.
- Unloads bags of feed, bales of hay, and bags of bedding.
- Maintains and organizes hay and supplement storage area.
- Ensures that the horses are prepared for riding as needed.
- Performs routine grooming and minor medical treatment for the horses as assigned.
- Perform other functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must make regular physical inspections of horse stalls.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or up to 75 lbs.
- Requires the ability to perform heavy manual work which will involve bending, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, crouching, and standing for extended periods of time.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work is performed in an outdoor environment and often exposed to various weather conditions, insects, weeds, and poisonous plants. May be exposed to odors, noise, dust, pollen, fumes, and chemicals such as pesticides.
MINIMUM OUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma and five (5) years of professional experience working with horses; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
