JOB SUMMARY
The Sheraton &More Coffee Bar Barista is a professional, well versed in the art of crafting coffee beverages. They will be expected to utilize their extensive knowledge of the history and origins of drink ingredients and their ability to understand flavor profiles, to develop palate pleasing hot and cold beverages. The associates in this role have studied and committed to memory most major coffee and tea combinations. They understand thoroughly the process of making a drink to recipe and can speak confidently about coffee beans, drink blend, tasting and roasting notes.
The style of service offered at &More is engaging while looking for the opportunity to entertain and educate. Guests utilizing this unique space are invited to socialize, dine, and sip where they want, when they want and how they want. The associate will require a strong ability to understand guest cues to adapt and flex the experience to meet the guest passions.

Barista Key Roles
- Welcome guests with eye contact being warm, approachable, enthusiastic, professional, assured and hospitable
- Establish strong rapport with guests and preserve excellent levels of service while identifying guests needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
- Provide specific suggestions/recommendations for food and beverages based on the preferences of each guest
- Possess strong product knowledge of coffee that is demonstrated by one's ability to speak on the subject; being able to influence and inspire
- Comfortable engaging with guests while preparing orders or crafting beverages; adding personal flair and finesse in execution to create air of intrigue and wonder
- Ensure food and beverages are presented with exceptional level of detail prior to delivering to guests
- Ensure every guest leaves wanting to return by providing an exceptional experience that delivers on the Sheraton Service Promise
- Drive sales through confident knowledge and provide up sell suggestions that are seen as friendly vs. overbearing and genuine vs. pushy and scripted.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding food and beverage offerings available throughout the day, as well as from other outlets within the hotel - be able to relate all information in an appealing and informative manner to all guests
- Familiarized with hotel amenities; knowledgeable about historical facts or stories related to the Sheraton, and areas of interest in the Grand Rapids area
- Bar Service– welcoming guests, taking orders, answering menu and beverage inquiries, explaining signature items, placing orders, bar maintenance and menu execution where applicable
- Accurately complete and deliver all orders with uncompromising quality and consistency as per specifications and beverage recipe adherence
- Prepare garnishes, restock product, uphold coffee bar cleanliness to standard
- Correct use of Micros POS system to record transactions, adhering to all company standards and policies
- Processing bills and taking payment while following cash handling procedures as outlined in company policies
- Perform opening and closing checklists to ensure you are set for success
- Maintain daily inventory of food and beverages to ensure stock maintenance; Report any discrepancies or issues with availability of products
- Any other duties as assigned by Hotel Leadership to service the customer
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ barista service experience in a café or dining venue
- Fluency in English both written and verbal
- Ability to work flexible shifts during the week; early morning and daytime hours, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to carry, move and lift items weighing up to 25lbs, must be able to stoop and bend, twist and turn to perform essential job functions
- Must be able to stand, walk and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
- Proven abilities to prioritize multiple drink and food menu orders while consistently staying organized in a high-paced, high volume environment
