General Qualifications*:
The Barista is a Ministerial Support position. Ministerial Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, it is expected that staff who fill these roles – no matter their personal beliefs - respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Additionally, they are required to abide by MHA’s culture code and standards of conduct.
All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Position Objective*:
The Barista is responsible for consistently delivering quality espresso beverages, coffee and snacks at the Espresso Cart, the Fountain, and other retail locations, for all customers while adhering to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, with the goal of providing outstanding guest service, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

Key Job Accountabilities*:
- Provide excellent service (fast, friendly, safe, efficient) in the Espresso Cart and the Fountain to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Welcome and care for all customers respectfully and cheerfully.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and team members ensuring accurate orders and transactions.
- Present products and promotions in the most appealing manner by following standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products to ensure timely use.
- Utilize upselling techniques to boost sales, this includes updating signage and displays.
- Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with the duty rosters and cleaning standards to maintain a high level of facility cleanliness, including emptying trash cans and sanitizing work and guest areas.
- Keep record of cleaning logs and other assigned temperature logs as instructed.
- Prepare foods as needed, and grind and blend coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea.
- Follow cash register policies, inventory stocking, and recording guidelines to maintain accurate records and ensure inventory is on hand as needed.
- Work in other Food Service department roles, as needed.
- Follow stated open and closing procedures.
- Perform other supporting Food Service duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Part-time; $15.50 - $16.50/hour.

Qualifications:Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- At least two years of high school.
Work Experience:

At least 6 months of related experience.

- Ability to learn how to prepare coffee and espresso beverages in a clean, consistent, sanitary, orderly manner.
- Ability to use a cash register and make accurate cash and credit transactions.
- Ability to work unsupervised for long periods of time.
- Ability to take directions and complete tasks as assigned.
- Ability to take initiative to learn and improve.
Physical* Demands*:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires standing all the shift period, squatting, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Additional Requirements :
- Will be assigned a secondary role as required by Supervisor.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as required by operations including summer, weekdays, weekends, evening and night shifts, and most major holidays (closed for Christmas.)
- Must be spiritually mature and passionate about helping others grow in their Christian journey.
- Must be able to obtain a valid California Food Handler’s Card.
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's Mission, Vision, Values and Commitments statements.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Must agree to and comply with MHA's employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
