Head Baker / Kitchen Manager
Nestle Toll House will be launching a pilot project in Washington DC to deliver freshly baked cookies ordered from OFO (online food ordering) apps (e.g. Grubhub, Doordash, etc.) to local consumers. Become a part of the LDM Group and manage all aspects of the baking production for the Nestle Toll House Cookie Delivery pilot project at the Washington DC production kitchen. Duties include but are not limited to the following: maintaining product inventory, baking of product, running quality control of baked goods, packaging, order fulfillment for OFOs, training/management of staff, and maintaining clear and consistent communication with team, customer management, and Union Kitchen management. The Bakery head will oversee all kitchen activities from production to order fulfillment.
Ideally, the Kitchen Manager will have extensive Pastry/Baking knowledge, team building/ employee management, inventory maintenance, extensive knowledge of safe food-handling practices, prior experience with OFO ordering systems, basic computer/phone skills, kitchen troubleshooting/problem solving and is someone who is looking to be a part of a new trend. This is an opportunity to be part of shaping the future and building strong customer services attributes.
This is a full-time, salaried position that includes at least 40-45 hours of work per week, including nights and weekends as needed. The duration of this position is 6-months with the potential to be extended after the completion of the pilot program.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Certifications:
- ServSafe® certification required
- Pastry/ Culinary degree preferred
- DC Health Dept License preferred
- At least 5 years kitchen experience,
- At least 2 years managing a kitchen staff or overseeing production
- Must be able to communicate via email, phone, text.
- Must be able to work with/troubleshoot OFO systems.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs and/or push boxes as required
- Basic knowledge and respect for safe food-handling
- Math, reading and writing skills required
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee and participate in the daily production of all food items
- Work to find efficiencies in production and communicate them to Nestle management
- Promote and maintain safe food-handling practices and work environment at all times in accordance with local and ServSafe guidelines, including storage, preparation, cooking, packaging, and workplace set-up/break down
- Train and manage production bakers and organize/maintain staff schedule
- Oversee end to end quality control of all products
- Troubleshoot any issues that arise with production; discuss issues with Nestlé team accordingly
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with Nestlé team on all aspects of the pilot program and day to day activities.
- Attend and participate in meetings with Nestlé management on the status of the program
- Maintain product inventory: Place orders for products and kitchen needs as needed
- Create/maintain systems for packaging and hand-off to delivery persons
- Uphold the high standards of the Nestle Toll House brand in actions and activities.
- Be an extension of the brand in all actions and activities.
- Work within the brand, production, and pilot guidelines set forth by Nestlé management.
- Respect and maintain regulations and guidance for good kitchen stewardship as a member of Union Kitchen.
- Communicate with the Union Kitchen team as needed for pod maintenance or other facilities issues.
