As an Backend Engineer at Philz Coffee, you'll Better Days by providing engineering solutions, innovation and world class customer experiences with our Digital Team. Your primary focus will be developing and maintaining integrations between internal and external applications and there'll be plenty of opportunity to be involved in other applications and technologies such as writing Python and integration code in Ruby and PHP.
This role must be based in California, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, or New York
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Development
- Designing, developing and testing application and system integrations in Python
- Building and maintaining production level code
- Accurately translate business needs into functional code
- Stay up with the latest trends and tech (build POC to explore possibilities)
- Architecting and maintaining our databases and schemas
Workflow
- Work collaboratively with our Agile Engineering team to solve business needs
- Productive and self motivated
- Willing and excited to work remotely
- Help prioritize work to to make the most positive impact
Additional Impact Areas
- SQL proficiency and experience with different database systems
- Ecommerce experience
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, AWS)
- Experience with Docker
- Experience with Jira
- Experience w/ Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Experience w/ PHP and Laravel
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 5+ years experience in Python or Ruby
- Solid understanding of RESTful systems and the principles of good API design
- Experience w/ Git and git workflows.
- Familiarity using Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL specifically)
**Compensation & Benefits
A reasonable estimate of the starting annual base salary for this role is $119,000 to $133,000. Please note that the base salary will vary based on qualifications, previous experience, and work location.
