Mechanical Automation Engineer utilizes strong mechanical system knowledge to execute mechanical equipment design projects of substantial variety and complexity within the corporate automation strategy. Utilizes strong process development practices and extensive industry application knowledge while working directly with internal customers in the development of solutions to meet their application needs.
Mechanical Automation Engineer Responsibilities:
- Owns and leads the mechanical design, drawings, BOM, standard work and validation of the mechanical systems of automated equipment build.
- Manages the mechanical portion of departmental projects with cross-functional resources, including, budget, timeline, resource planning and reporting.
- Regarded as an applications expert for mechanical aspects of automated systems.
- Provide mechanical solutions, training and recommendations for the support of automation initiatives across the organization. Assist in the identification of new opportunities.
- Provide mechanical expertise to ensure a low and or mitigated risk position in solutions developed for automation applications including supply chain aspects.
- Assure the use of standard systems, procedures and methods for mechanical designs where existing standard work exists. Modify and or create new means when and where needed.
- Provide applications & technical leadership and guidance in automation strategy and project execution of mechanical systems. Act as a technical liaison.
- Technically develops others including design engineers and technicians.
- A BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuing education
- 10+ years of experience or developmental experience in a manufacturing or design setting.
- Some formal exposure to areas outside own department.
- Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.
- Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, uses advanced problem solving methods to make decisions.
- Strong oral and written communication.
