Managers are essentially partners-in-training and are involved in almost all areas for which partners are responsible. As an Audit Manager youll be responsible for coaching Audit staff, by providing them with constructive developmental feedback and career growth guidance. You will also oversee the day-to-day operations of an audit engagement. As an Audit Manager youll also be responsible for all phases of audit, compilation and review engagements assigned, including planning meetings, fieldwork supervision, client system documentation, ratio reviews to determine the scope of testing, inquiry and further analysis, risk assessment evaluation, and engagement approach development.
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manages, directs, and monitors multiple auditing and accounting projects and client engagements simultaneously, schedules and coordinates workflow and staffing for audit projects and engagements
- Plans, executes, directs, and completes audit engagements in a wide variety of industries
- Responsible for all phases of audit, compilation and review engagements assigned, including planning meetings, fieldwork supervision, client system documentation, ratio reviews to determine the scope of testing, inquiry and further analysis, risk assessment evaluation, and engagement approach development
- Possesses the skill to perform an analytical review of financial statements, tax returns, footnotes, and management letters
- Understands the clients business and industry sufficiently to dispense general business advise; however, has developed a solid professional sense which demands documenting the circumstances and evaluating the risk in advising clients without checking with the Engagement Partner prior to doing so
- Supervises staff in the preparation of work papers to document financial statements and tax returns
- 5-7 years of previous experience in progressively challenging, relevant positions
- CPA designation required
- Advanced degree in accounting or related field
- Proven relationship management skills and experience establishing rapport, trust, and confidence with key stakeholders
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment
- Experience training new hires at all levels
- Experience creating/presenting internal CPEs
