Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company's sole discretion and the wage range for this role considers a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At SNAHC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $217,273.82 - $293, 958.70
Position Summary:
The Associate Medical Director reports to the Medical Director and provides clinical care in the health center and/or school-based health clinic setting. The Associate Medical Director is a physician who provides a range of acute, chronic, and preventative medical care services and is able to manage and supervise clinical staff while coordinating the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
Essential Functions:
- Works in conjunction with the Medical Director and the Medical Department Leadership to foster a healthy work environment.
- Provides professional leadership and direction to the clinical care teams including direct clinical supervision of physicians, clinicians, specialty care providers, and clinical support staff.
- Engages in oversight, training, and performance evaluations of clinicians, physicians, and specialty providers, which may include reviewing program goals and objectives and implementation of corrective action plans when necessary.
- Provides direct patient care in alignment with departmental productivity standards which include completion of clinical documentation within 48 hours, adherence to all policies and procedures regarding completeness of necessary documentation for patient care, and timeliness in the completion of clinical administrative tasks.
- Works and partners with Medical Department Leadership to strategize, to plan, and to implement changes that support the organizations AAAHC Accreditation and the Patient Centered Health Home (PCMH) delivery system of care.
- Under the guidance of the Medical Director, the Associate Medical Director reviews medical protocols and standing orders, recommends new standards of care, and monitors appropriateness of care within the Medical Department.
- Partners with the Medical Director to complete an annual review of all policies and procedures for submission to the Board of Directors.
- Promotes the quintuple AIM for healthcare improvement, highlighting the importance of improving population health, enhancing the care experience, reducing unnecessary health costs, promoting staff wellness, and advancing health equity.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, and Risk Management programs for the Medical Department and Health center.
- Completes quarterly peer review.
- Oversees Infection Control Policies and Procedures at the Health Center.
- Participates in budget planning for the medical department in conjunction with Medical Department Leadership, Fiscal, and Administration
- Ensure direct reports’ adherence to department and agency policies, procedures, and protocols, including HIPAA compliance and maintenance of confidentiality.
- Performs management duties including recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluations, coaching and progressive discipline as needed, using SNAHC prescribed best practices.
- Maintains appropriate relationships with staff, patients, family members, and the community.
- Adheres to all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to the position which include, but not limited to, HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent computer skills, preferably with Windows, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Board certified and licensed as a Family Physician or Internal Medicine Physician in the State of California without practice limitations.
- 3 years of supervisory experience
- Familiar with and dedicated to community health care with experience in working with veterans, historically underserved populations, individuals with lower socioeconomic status, and patients representing diverse backgrounds.
- Has experience with electronic health records and appropriate ICD-10 coding and billing
- Must maintain certification and ability to provide all services required by CMS in order to serve Medicaid/Medicare patients.
- Must successfully complete the physician credentialing process in accordance with National Accreditation requirements.
- Knowledge, understanding and use of Electronic Health/Administrative Records, Resource Patient Management Systems in NextGen.
- Experience in an FQHC setting
- Knowledge of traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of the diverse AI/AN community, as well as ability to work with other racially, culturally, ethnically, and financially diverse populations.
