Technology plays a crucial role in our ability to deliver best-in-class insurance products. We are looking for an Associate Enterprise DBA II to join our Enterprise DBA team. The Enterprise DBA team supports corporate objectives by directly supporting data and software engineering initiatives as well as ensuring performance, security, and scalability of the systems. This mission-critical team offers complex technical challenges and the opportunity to work with on-premises and cloud technologies.

You will be responsible for installing and maintaining CMI’s Enterprise Data Management infrastructure as well as supporting both data and software engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with infrastructure, data and software engineering, IT security and compliance teams to ensure each database maintains operational continuity, availability, integrity, recovery, and security.
  • Provide database administration support in production and non-production environments to resolve complex problems, including on-call 24/7 support over weekends and holidays.
  • Help to develop and maintain training for SQL Server development standards, tools and supporting tools, such as monitoring tools.
  • Document database architecture, configuration settings, baseline performance metrics and planned and unplanned outages.
  • Pro-actively monitor health and performance tune of all the instances and databases, including to apply necessary indexes, monitor index defragmentation, perform index maintenances, and discover and remove unnecessary indexes, etc.
  • Implement and monitor data access controls to meet Auditing and Compliance requirements specific to the insurance industry.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years related experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Competent knowledge and experience in maintaining and supporting SQL Server instances in both Azure data platform and on-premises environments.
  • Competent knowledge and experience with Enterprise DBA function for all the on-premises and Azure SQL Server instances and databases that include implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Novice knowledge and experience in maintaining and supporting Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure storage, Azure Machine Learning Service, Azure Synapse, and other Azure data/analytics offerings.
  • Competent understanding of the operating system, networking, and other underlying infrastructure components related to the databases supported in both on-premises and Azure environments, where applicable.
  • Competent knowledge and experience in implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting database replication on-premises and in Azure Cloud. Experience supporting SQL Server always on, availability groups, and database mirroring.
  • Competent knowledge and experience with implementing and continuous monitoring of data security (securing data at rest, securing data in motion, and securing data in use) and related security controls on-premises and in Azure to mitigate data breaches, data leaks, privacy violations, unauthorized access to data, non-compliance with security standards, data loss and data corruption.
  • Competent knowledge and experience in using DevOps, including Agile, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
