POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Program Director drives operational effectiveness, efficiency, service quality and regulatory compliance of T.C. Harris School programs. Ensures client centered practices and is responsible for developing high performing teams. Develops, educates and implements core processes across programs and closely monitors conformance. Plans and implements core process changes and new initiatives that strengthen teams, improve outcomes and efficiencies, increase stakeholder satisfaction and achieves the strategic goals of the organization. The Assistant Program Director partners with company leaders to assure a positive culture and employs sound financial management tactics and decisions.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that all aspects of daily operations for all programs are running smoothly, ensures a positive, healthy and safe environment is being provided and maintained within program guidelines, and that all agency policies, procedures, processes, daily activity schedules, documentation and reporting requirements are being implemented appropriately.
- Provides direct supervision of Program Coordinators and functions as a role model for other Supervisory and Direct Care Staff.
- Oversees onboarding and training of all new supervisors. Participates in decision making relative to internal promotions. Develops and utilizes success planning for all promotions.
- Partners across the organization. Models teamwork. Works with Leadership Team to foster and support a culture of employee ownership and engagement.
- Active member of the Leadership Team. Participates actively in annual strategic and operational planning bringing. Participates in workforce planning initiatives with emphasis on retention, identifying current and future gaps based on growth expectations.
- Maintains awareness of all applicable legal, licensing, Agency and professional requirements and expectations and ensures program operations are well within expectations. May facilitates on-site visits and audits with licensing and other state representatives providing factual information in a timely manner. Implements identified action plans.
- Actively participates with other management staff in team building, and developing and nurturing a strong, cohesive team culture within all programs. Participates in providing growth and personal/professional development activities and opportunities for staff. Communicates essential information to staff and external contacts, demonstrating clear and effective verbal and written communication skills and adherence to established parameters for confidentiality.
- Maintains awareness of all applicable legal, licensing, Agency and professional requirements and expectations and ensures program operations are well within expectations. Reports per policy any suspected resident abuse, whether physical, sexual, or mental/psychological.
- Conducts self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner demonstrating proactive actions and decision making that foster supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment for the students. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality.
- Complies with and positively reinforces with other expectations outlined in Company Handbook, policies and procedures, including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety, and vehicle operations/participant transport; maintains confidentiality related to residents and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in a human services with five (5) years of progressive experience or eight (8) years of progressive experience in providing intensive treatment services for children with cognitive, physical, or medical challenges, as well as severe emotional/behavioral or juvenile justice issues.
