The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for a nine-month Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, starting in August 2023. The successful applicant will join an engaged faculty in a school offering majors in Animal Behavior, Applied Cultural Studies, Criminology, Global Studies, Neuroscience, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.

Responsibilities
The school seeks candidates to teach courses for the Animal Behavior program, which may include Introduction to Techniques in Animal Behavior, Comparative Animal Behavior, Biological Bases of Behavior, and Animal Learning and Behavior laboratory. Other courses may serve our Psychology or Neuroscience Programs. The typical teaching load is the equivalent of 12 credits per semester. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be invited to participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment and service to the school, college, and university.

Qualifications
A master’s degree in animal behavior or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment; candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. Undergraduate teaching experience is required. We especially welcome applications from candidates who will add to the diversity of our faculty and/or who have a demonstrated interest in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice issues.
