Qualifications:
DVM (or equivalent degree), a record of excellence in clinical education and teaching, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. History of high quality, high volume spay neuter and shelter medicine experience preferred.

The University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications for a 75% time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with immediate availability. Applications are open and will remain open until the position is filled. This faculty member will manage the spay/neuter clinical course which is currently at the Animal Humane Society – Golden Valley through May 2023 when it will move to the Veterinary Medical Center on the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus in June 2023. This position will be housed within the Primary Care section of the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage Spay/Neuter Clinical Rotation
  • Instruct 4th year veterinary students in physical examination, general surgery skills, and anesthetic delivery on dogs and cats provided by local rescue groups and humane societies.
  • Coordinate animal availability as needed
  • Provide medical care to animals experiencing surgical and other complications
  • Train students in animal care, restraint, and handling
  • Supervise veterinary technicians
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive shelter medicine program at the CVM including didactic lectures and elective shelter medicine rotations
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Note that this is based on full-time employment and will be pro-rated for the part-time role.
