The Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center is looking for an Assistant General Manager who will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in managing daily hotel operations in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
What will I be doing?
As the Assistant General Manager (AGM), you would be responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel, from day-to-day personnel management and guests. The AGM provides leadership and assists with strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction while working very closely with the hotel General Manager and Department Heads. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Assist in leading, directing and managing all hotel operations including, but not limited to, hotel budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, managing balanced scorecard performance, implementing and complying with all company policies and brand standards, overseeing sales and marketing initiatives, responding to guests inquiries and resolving concerns, and meeting participation and facilitation
- Responsible for the property's operations in General Manager's absence
- Manage direct reports by ensuring Team Members understand employment practices, recommending employment decisions and corrective action, supporting performance management, and implementing discipline
- Ensure daily inventory is managed to maximize all potential Rooms and Food & Beverage revenue
- Participate in development of short and long-term financial and operational plans for the property
- Assist the General Manager with development of profit and loss statements, budgets, and financial forecasts
- Achieve all guest service standards, constantly seeking ways to improve products and services, as well as increase volumes and profits
- Receive and respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with all Prism/Aimbridge policies and procedures, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Empathize and engage with team members to drive hotel culture and embrace Prism’s/Aimbridge core values
- Support proper preventive maintenance of the physical property, mechanical and IT systems, guest rooms, public space, back of house and exterior
- Manage loss prevention and risk management policies, safety standards and claims reporting
- Maintain a security function to protect the assets of the hotel and the personal safety of associates and guests
- Continually gaining proficiency in the operation of all departments of the hotel
- Actively participate in hotel’s Manager-On-Duty Program
- Support all departments as needed based on business demands
Work Experience
- Four-year college degree is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Previous managerial/supervisory experience in the hospitality industry to include Rooms and/or Food & Beverage experience
- Hilton Brand experience highly preferred
- Certification preferred: Senior manager and/or other certification as required by franchise.
- Alcohol awareness and/or food safety certification as required by local or state government agency.
- Strong financial knowledge and computer (Microsoft Office Suite) skills required.
- Solid understanding of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
