Brief Job Description
Responsible for assisting with the organization, development, and leadership of a varsity intercollegiate football program in support of the mission and core values of the Athletic Department and Buffalo State College. Duties include supporting all efforts of the head coach in recruiting and retaining top prospective student-athletes; establishing a competitive schedule; coordinating practice planning, skill development, and designing strategies which prepare team for competition; mentoring student-athletes; overseeing development initiatives; organizing football camps; collaborates with numerous athletic and College units; demonstrates adherence to College, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The assistant coach also supports campus retention and student-support efforts by serving as a mentor for non-student-athletes as assigned and in collaboration with partners in Student Affairs and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics that are consistent with the skills and abilities related to this position and that address the College’s strategic goals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; professional experience coaching college football including experience at an NCAA institution and experience as a position coach. Proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III Athletics. Experience in a position of leadership and mentoring.
