Samaritan’s Purse is seeking an Assistant Director of Finance- International Support to join the Field Finance team at our International Headquarters location in Boone, NC. As the Assistant Director of Finance- International Support you will be responsible for providing strategic input to Projects Leadership regarding the fiscal function and performance of field operations. You will be providing financial guidance and direction to operations outside of the Continental United States and as needed to other Samaritan’s Purse departments. A day in the life of an Assistant Director of Finance- International Support

In the role of an Assistant Director of Finance- International Support, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to Projects Leadership
  • Advise International Projects Leadership on the financial management operation and performance of field operations
  • Develop and implement training programs for Samaritan's Purse staff regarding financial policies, procedures, and operational guidelines for International operations
  • Travel to fields sites as needed for temporary assignments to ensure the following: proper accounting principles, and audits, to consult with, advise, and train every level of Projects management and finance staff on field finance matters and performance
  • Collaborate with the Projects Department Award Management Team to ensure project proposals, modifications, agreements, reports, and invoices are reviewed
  • Prepare budget templates, budget handbooks with instructions, conduct budget training workshops, and review submitted budgets. Assist Projects management as necessary in yearly budget preparation for field offices
  • Support and assistance in identifying, developing testing, deploying, and supporting finance systems used by Samaritan's Purse’s operations outside of the continental United States
  • Supervise two Deputy Managers and indirectly their teams, overall 10-15 staff members
  • Support Projects Disaster Response Unit by ensuring a member of the Field Finance team is available to serve on a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) or Incident Management Team (IMT), developing procedures for finance staff of DARTS and IMTs, training staff who may serve on a DART or IMT, and providing support and assistance in the transition from DART to a full field office
  • Assist by providing advice and tracking to ensure documentation for Gift in Kind by field offices is submitted and documented correctly
  • Provide monthly field office activity reports to Headquarters Management
  • Perform Field Finance Manager and Regional Finance Officer duties as required due to staffing shortages
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Samaritan's Purse's financial operations and activities to respond to general inquiries

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field of stud
  • 7-10+ years related experience and/or training (required)
  • A certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • International experience and demonstrated success in cross-cultural communication and ministry (preferred)
  • Effective in leading in-person and remote training
  • Success in leading and managing teams with multiple priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, readiness, and ability to work with a diverse team in a pressured environment
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Ability to travel and work in difficult conditions under pressure. International Travel required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including proficiency in Excel and Outlook (required)

Job Location: International Headquarters (Boone, NC)
Type: Full-Time
Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required)
Travel Expectations: Frequent International travel. Approximately 60 days/year. Maintaining required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary.
