FUNCTION:

Function:

The Assistant Director, Community Living is responsible for supervising the creation and supervision of supports for People with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position provides leadership and supervision of Community Living Specialists, and Supervisors as assigned. Provides oversight for the coordination and implementation of Person-Centered Plans and ISPs. Ensures compliance with regulatory internal and external policies and mandates as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all staff and functions of assigned part of the department.

  • Provide leadership for staff to ensure that they are completing job duties with a Person Centered approach that respects each persons right to make choices, take risks, exercise self-determination, and experience personal growth.

  • Ensure that each Person is being supported appropriately as indicated in their Person Centered Plan and current ISP.

  • Supervise staff as assigned.

  • Approves adjustment of staff schedule(s) due to vacation, absenteeism or illness and use of overtime.

  • Ensure staff training and development is completed as required.

  • Maintain awareness of new developments and current trends in the area (s) of expertise. Receives mandated hours of training relevant to human services administration.

  • Serve as a Designated Agency Person, upon Medication Administration certification.

  • Serve as a Certified Investigator, Point Person and Incident Manager for the reporting of incidents through EIM. Serve as Mandated Reporter as required.

  • Ensure appropriate and accurate expenditures and reconciliation of monies disbursed from ACHIEVA Support Rep Payee and ACHIEVA Support Custodial Account for assigned Persons and other agency accounts.

  • Remain available to assist either by phone or on site in a crisis, at the discretion of the Vice President, Community Supported Living. Ensure that staff adhere to the crisis procedures. Provide support to staff and People to continue ongoing responsibilities and activities. Ensure that the appropriate people, both professionals and family have been notified.

  • Facilitate meetings with People and their family, who are interested in exploring Community Supported Living opportunities.

  • Facilitate information gathering, tours and follow-up inquiries to identify and provide supports to a Person who wants to chart their life course with ACHIEVA.

  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and regulations.

  • Ensure that each Persons billing is accurate and submitted as required.

  • Communicates with the Vice President, Community Supported Living on a regular basis.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Equivalent of a Masters degree in Human Service/ Social Sciences and three years of related experience, including two years as a supervisor. Effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and planning skills required. Satisfactory Act 33 and 34 clearances and FBI as required. Valid license to drive in the State of Pennsylvania and properly insured vehicle.
