What you will be doing
The Assistant Category Manager will be responsible for partnering with the National Category Director and division merchants to develop and manage the overall merchandising strategy for your category(s).
This is a significant opportunity to make a difference in transforming Albertsons Companies to better serve our customers. As a member of your category pod, you will help manage the merchandising planning process for your category(s). You will develop deep category expertise and own the execution of key analyses to drive category-level decisions. You will develop an understanding of category trends, innovations, consumer preferences, nuances by geography and customer segments, and competitor activity.
The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our Divisional offices Bellevue WA, Clackamas OR, Pleasanton CA, Fullerton CA, Phoenix AZ, Denver CO, Itasca IL, Arlington TX, Lanham, MD, Malvern PA, or West Bridgewater MA
Main responsibilities
- Category Management
- Partners with the National Category Director to strategically manage category(s)
- Supplier Relationships
- Assists the Category Director to prepare supplier negotiations strategies
- Data & Analytics
- Partners with the National Category Director and finance to maintain weekly, quarterly, and yearly scorecards
- Collaboration
- Works with cross-functional and 12 divisional teams to develop both strategic and tactical solutions

What we are searching for
- 1+ years of category experience. 3+ years’ experience in the grocery industry
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with a related degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
- Previous store operations experience or similar experience where a strong understanding of operations and merchandising approaches has been gained
- Quantitative, marketing, merchandising and consumer research background to read, interpret and understand how internal and external factors influence financial results
- Familiar with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Periscope, Demand Tech, I2E, BI Dashboards, GOLD, OMNI tool
- Travel requirements: Up to 20% travel depending on location
