Position Description:

Th e Assistant Bursar position will assist the University Bursar with various duties required to manage the Bursar Office. This includes creating and maintaining positive relationships with students and University staff. The position is responsible for monitoring and assisting with the collection of student accounts receivable and serving as liaison between the Bursar Office and other Administrative Offices. This involves trouble shooting and reporting problems and correcting student accounts when required. The Assistant Bursar will also oversee Third Party Billing, which involves assisting with billing and collection activities for more than 50 third party vendors. The position will oversee the processing of all military billings to include VA Chapters 31 and 33, ROTC, Army, Navy and Air Force, using various VA and military online portals. In absence of University Bursar or when deemed appropriate, the Assistant Bursar will serve as backup and represent the Bursar Office in University meetings and/or committees. Will serve as the next point of contact for student problems that cannot be resolved by Collections Coordinators or Third-Party Billing Specialist. May work on special projects as assigned by the University Bursar.

Responsibilities
  • Assists Bursar with Billing set up, including programming tuition and fee set up with in PeopleSoft.
  • Supervises staff responsible for Third Party billing processes, including billing to the VA and other federal and state governmental agencies or departments.
  • Supervises staff responsible for Student Account Collections, including billing, due diligence, assignment to collections and student bankruptcy.
  • Manages Federal Perkins Loan and Federal Health Profession Loan Collections including default prevention.
  • Works with Departments and Budget Office in resolving questions regarding tuition revenues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of financial aid and cashiering functions.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (i.e., PeopleSoft).
Other
  • Currently a hybrid schedule of weekly on campus/in-office and remote work, schedule may vary day to day.
  • Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
