POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Assessment Coordinator is to provide college readiness instruction to clients in accordance with approved curricula in compliance with the Goodwill Excel Center and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives, as well as adhering to all Texas State Standards. This position requires an individual with flexibility and an aptitude for working collaboratively with faculty, students and staff. The Assessment coordinator should possess exceptionally strong organizational and interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of handling other duties assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Plan and conduct eight (8) week course curricula to clients in accordance with the Texas Success

Initiative (TSI) state required assessment to determine college-readiness with an emphasis in reading, writing, and math.

2. Plan and administer instruction for clients based on pre-assessment activity results of skill levels and

career interests according to approved curricula.

3. Utilize appropriate audio and visual teaching materials individualized to the specific needs of clients.

4. Assess and document client performance and provide feedback to clients.

5. Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.

6. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery

of services to clients. Prepare related reports.

7. Control use of equipment and supplies; recommend purchases within budget guidelines.

8. Coordinate activities and classes in conjunction with appropriate schools or other parties.

9. Develop program and related educational materials as necessary for the establishment and

maintenance of assigned classes.

10. Provide positive, supportive encouragement for success to program participants.

11. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

12. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and

intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding

social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

13. Maintain accountability of clients and property; adhere to safety practices.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain confidentiality of information.

2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

3. Attends meetings as scheduled.

4. Collaborate with school teams to address student success.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

2. Must be able to understand work instructions in English.

3. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with and acceptable driving record.

4. Must pass a criminal background check and complete fingerprinting requirement.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$37,000 +This position is assigned to Leave Group 3.
