The NDE II will provide NDE Engineering services to our customer to include prepare, revise, review and approve Non-destructive technique sheets including evaluation of supplier techniques and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide NDE support including different NDE Methods like MT, PT, VT, UT, ET and IR on turbine vanes, blades, baskets, transitions, compressor and turbine bolts, rotors, and many other components
- Conduct internal and external NDT inspections.
- Design and evaluate inspection reference standards.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, engineering, programs, field personnel, and suppliers.
- Develop and evaluate new equipment and technology.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Prepare and review engineering specifications.

- Design and evaluate inspection reference standards.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, engineering, programs, field personnel, and suppliers.
- Audit internal and external NDT inspection facilities.
- Certifiable in at least one Volumetric NDE Method (RT or UT) and on three Surface NDE Methods (VT, MT, PT, IR, ET)
- Familiar with Computed Tomography and/or Olympus OmniScan Phased Array Ultrasonic Equipment.
- Perform hands-on inspections in certified methods, including use of CWI for welding projects.
- Manage multiple projects independently.
- Consistently work safely and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Exhibit close attention to detail and provide accurate documentation.
- Level II experience in multiple methods performed by Viable is a plus:
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic (UT), Phased Array UT (PAUT), Eddy Current (ET) including Eddy Current Array (ECA), Radiographic Testing (RT) Film/Non-Film, and Infrared Testing (IRT).
- Must be able to perform hands on inspections in certified methods.
- Must be able to certify as Level II in all other qualified methods.
- Motivated to acquire ASNT Level III in qualified methods.
- Experience in developing and inspection techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and database utilization.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Willingness to perform other duties assigned by the team lead.
- Good communication skills a must.
- Exhibit close attention to detail and provide accurate documentation.
- Show a strong initiative to succeed.
- Have passport or ability to obtain passport.
- Must have a minimum of 7 years documented work experience as a Level II in industrial NDT.
- Qualify for fitness of duty on all work sites including, but not necessarily limited to, passing both drug tests and background checks.
- Estimated Travel – 25%. Most travel is 3-5 days during the week.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Level II Certifications in two surface and two volumetric method is required.
American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a plus.
Associates degree in an Engineering or Technology discipline or equivalent years of experience.
Documented 5 plus years of nondestructive testing experience in the energy sector.
Project management or supervision experience.
Self-motivated and ability to multi-task.
Experience in nondestructive testing (NDT) of castings, forgings, weldments, composite structures, and bonded assemblies.
Physical Requirements:
- Have full body mobility and be able to twist, turn, bend at the waist, squat and go up and down stairs.
- Able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- Able to work on feet for extended periods of time.
- Able to walk and move about the Center to work with team members.
- Able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Job duties frequently require the employee to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The vision requirements include; close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
