SUMMARY

The Art Therapist is responsible for providing direct services with school age children, adolescents, young adults and their families by using art therapy as an integrative approach through active art making, creative processes, and applied psychological theory within a psychotherapeutic relationship. Treatment and program planning is designed to promote family centered care and education, reduce distress, increase coping, provide normalization, improve functional skills, promote social interaction and support through creative and expressive art experiences. The Art Therapist has autonomous control of group directives and ability to work from one’s preferred theoretical framework. This position includes a great deal of interaction with fellow specialists including music therapists, art therapists, and child life specialists. Monthly meetings and monthly team clinical supervision promotes growth as a clinician. Potential to participate and create research objectives with the aid of CHNOLA’s “Shared Governance Evidence Based Practice Committee”


EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited program required.

EXPERIENCE: 2 yearsclinical experience in a pediatric healthcare setting required.

LICENSE/CERT: ATR per the American Art Therapy Association guidelines and requirements (ATCB-Art Therapy Credentials Board). ATR-BC, Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist preferred. BLS preferred.

Responsible for overseeing provider clinic templates. This includes making sure templates are in the electronic medical record accurately and that the arrangement of the templates support excellent patient flow and space utilization. The coordinator will track clinic cancellations and patient reschedules to assure we are providing exceptional customer service and maximizing our access.
