Position Summary:
This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Construction & Materials. The purpose of the Field Construction Engineer (FCE) position is to improve consistency of field construction operations throughout the state.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Represents the Bureau of Construction & Materials (C&M) in field construction matters.
- Works with contractors, consultants and KDOT staff across the state to ensure uniform implementation of KDOT Standards & Specifications.
- Investigates and works to implement new technology to aid in construction and inspection.
- Acts in direct support of the Bureau by conducting site visits, documentation reviews and other tasks as assigned.
- Makes recommendations for new or revised specifications, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering with a professional engineering license.
Licensing & Certificate
- Professional Engineering license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professionals
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of experience in highway project construction and/or administration.

Pay: $89,232.00 - $93,641.60 per year
