Architectural Designer Job at Spahn & Rose
Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., the 2022 LBM Dealer of the Year, currently has an opening for an Architectural Designer at our location in DeWitt. This position is responsible for making detailed and technical drawings for building projects per specifications provided by customers and sales staff. They will work to execute revisions to schematic design, coordinate plans with consultant documents and produce final construction documents.
Responsibilities:
- Works with contractors, builders and home homeowners to design and develop building plans for residential new construction and remodeling.
- Work with clients to ensure the accuracy of the scope of work and building design.
- Verify building designs comply with required building codes.
- Researches materials and concepts to advise and support the design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary team members.
- Works within project schedules to prioritize tasks and coordinate the completion of documentation required from the initial design phase through final project completion.
- Consult with clients to render design specifications in line with products offered by S&R.
- Creates two and three dimensional drawings according to the requirements of the client.
- Maintains library of detail drawings specific to building projects.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, and stays current with software updates.
Qualifications:
- Fluent knowledge of, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D and/or other home design tools
- Prefer 5-7 years of experience in design and drafting.
- Previous experience with schematic design and construction documents of residential projects.
- Ability to draw floor plans, elevations and sections for existing homes.
- General understanding of construction technologies.
- Experience and ability to produce construction drawings.
- Knowledge of creating two and three dimensional drawings utilizing software.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven capability establishing good relationships and contributing in a team environment.
