Summary

With partners across the division of Student Life and through collaborations with academic units, we create diverse communities and provide a wide range of services through our facilities, our programs, and our staff.
The Application Specialist is the administrator of several important housing information systems, and manager for data connected with other units and the institution at large. Over the course of the limited term position, Michigan Housing and Student Life Technology Solutions (SLTS) are implementing a new housing management system, and you will ensure the integrity and operationality of this system (StarRez), along with several other software systems important to daily operations (including softphones and Zendesk ticketing system). The Application Specialist also creates automated reporting mechanisms that can be used by leadership for decision-making and real-time operational awareness, and retrieves and prepares data by request for Housing and divisional leadership. You will have a dotted reporting line to Student Life Technology Solutions.
Opportunities for hybrid work may be possible after reasonable time within position.
This is a one year limited term appointment with the potential to re-evaluate for an extension.

Responsibilities*
- Oversee and update use of housing applications, contracts, room change functionality, and other client-facing interfaces with StarRez, including the M Housing Business Portal
- Design and implement custom processes
- Provide direction, guidance and in-house support for end-user concerns
- Identify, facilitate the collection of and validate data to promote higher levels of service (e.g., housing room specific-data such as room dimensions, amenities, maps, and room images).
- Document processes and coordinate business operations with partners (e.g., Student Life Business and Finance).
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/computer-related field or equivalent experience
- 1 year experience performing business/workflow analysis, developing detailed functional requirements, creating scope documents, or standardizing operating procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relational database structures (such as Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, or equivalent enterprise level databases)
- Knowledge of IT security foundational concepts
- Experience developing and documenting business processes
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
Relocation will not be offered for this position.
Selected candidates whose start date is 4/1/23 or after, will not be eligible for the university salary/merit plan in 2023 unless otherwise notified.
