Appeals Specialist Job at ITAC Solutions
ITAC Solutions is seeking a skilled Appeals Specialist for a growing lab’s Billing Department. You must have medical, and appeals experience to be considered. This person will assist with reviews and research denied claims and file reconsiderations and appeals.
This position is contract-to-hire, onsite. Pay Rate is $19/hr.
What you’ll be doing (duties of this position):
- Filing reconsiderations and appeals with review of medical records to support services and medical necessity, tracking the status and outcomes, along with AR follow up for rejected/denied claims
- Performing comprehensive reviews of patient medical records
- Customize appeal response letters
- Assisting with reviewing and assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes for accuracy
- Assisting with claim transmissions/submissions
- Assisting with manual and electronic payment posting including daily balancing and reconciliation processes.
- May assist with reviewing overpayments and recoup requests, including pulling remits and overpayments for Medicare and Commercial insurance carriers
- May assist with other billing activities as assigned
What you’ll need to be considered (requirements):
- Medical experience working in a lab
- 3 years of experience working with filing insurance reconsiderations and appeals
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Experience using billing software is a plus
- Proficient in Excel
