Animal Laboratory Assistant and Technician Job at The Binding Site VT Inc
The Binding Site, VT, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep. We currently have a full-time entry-level position available for an Animal Laboratory Assistant and Technician on our busy USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT.
This job includes:
- Antisera collection and processing, ensuring high standards of product quality, animal care, and welfare
- manual handling of livestock weighing between 150 - 250 pounds
- multi-tasking, including assessing animal health and comfort at all times
- Immunization administration
- Routinely working outside approximately 25% of the time
Essential Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Provide documentation to verify the authorization to work in the US
Other Qualifications:
- physically stand for a full 10 hour shift
- lift up to 50 pounds +/-
- lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
- walk on uneven, wet, slippery surfaces
Background and motor vehicle check will be required.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Knowledge and experience with working on a farm and/or with livestock (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience with working within a laboratory environment (preferred)
- Previous experience working as a veterinary technician (preferred)
- The ability to be flexible due to the unpredictable nature of working with animals.
Day/Hours: We operate 5 days/week, with a compressed daily schedule of x4, 10-hour days.
