POSITION SUMMARY:
The Analyst - Accounting - GL position exists to reconcile multiple bank recs, monitor clearing schedules and work with multiple departments to ensure timely and accurate payment posting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Investigates processes and completes system documentation, policy reviews and audit reports with recommendation.
- Processes external audit requests pertaining to VMF Bank Accounts.
- Lead in building process and writing automation rules for new Cash Bank reconciliation process in Oracle.
- Monitors Cash Clearing and AP Clearing GLs to ensure appropriate flow of invoice to payment.
- Monitors bank account activity.
- Closes bank accounts where required.
- Generates month-end journal entries relating to cash management activity including intercompany debt transfers.
- Reviews bank reconciliations and resolves issues promptly.
- Acts as point of contact for fraudulent activity on bank accounts.
- Participates in various accounting and cash management projects as needed.
- Works closely with Investor Reporting, Financial Accounting, and Accounts Receivable departments to identify reconciling items.
- Works closely with Loan Servicing & Treasury teams to ensure timely and accurate payment and wire posting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred, but not required.
- In lieu of VMFs Holiday schedule, this position will follow bank holiday schedule.
- Accounting, bookkeeping, or reconciliation experience a plus.
- Capability of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on action to be taken.
- Must have great communication skills with all levels of management.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel.
- Great attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Motivated and self-starter.
- Quality minded.
- Willing to learn, hard-working, determined, and assertive.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- 75% communication methods completed over the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
- Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.
- Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
