Position Summary


Direct and manage the design, development and support of data engineering teams and lead engineering projects. Engage in technical design discussions and drive technical architecture. Manage multiple initiatives and be accountable for delivering multiple releases on schedule with the highest quality standards. Essential Job Functions

  • Partner with engineering peers and product leaders to prioritize initiatives to deliver the greatest value to our customers
  • Present practical input for strategic technology decisions; syntheses complex problems and present simple, practical, reliable, and maintainable solutions
  • Drive strategic alignment of analytics and integration specifications, associate requirements, and project schedules of technology services
  • Collaborate with software engineering, product and technical support teams
  • Support preparation of technology roadmap, data roadmap and provide input to business roadmap
  • Monitor new technologies and trends within the industry
  • Leverage DataOps best practices to improve technology agility using REST, various design patterns, micro services, behavior driven development, Test Driven Design (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD), and everyday code push to production, etc.
  • Drive root-cause analysis of critical business and production issues to prevent future occurrences as well as review/approve potential solutions
  • Establish performance standards and procedures, regulatory compliance and conduct ongoing performance audits and take action
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent job experience
  • 7+ years of professional technology work experience
  • 5+ years experience in building complex, highly scalable, high volume and low latency analytics solutions
  • Any exposure to REST, Object Oriented Design, various design patterns, micro services, behavior driven development, Test Driven Design (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD), and everyday code push to production, etc.
  • Any extensive experience with RDBMS, NoSQL and/or Big Data technologies
  • Any experience with Azure data integration, storage and compute technologies
  • Any experience in Agile methodology
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical group
  • Prior accountability for leading development initiatives

Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Master's Degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in managing and supporting massive data solutions including data lakes and data warehouses
  • 2+ years of experience in leading engineering teams of 5+ engineers and coaching, mentoring individuals to grow their career
  • Any experience in building services using: Spring/Spring Boot, Java 8, REST APIs using JSON, Swagger, React.js/npm, Docker/Cloud Foundry/Public Cloud, Git, CI, CD, and Cassandra
  • Any experience with ETL technologies such as Informatica, ADF and SSIS
  • Any experience with streaming technologies like Kafka, IBM MQ and EventHub
  • Any experience with Python, Spark and SQL
  • Any experience with Databricks, Synapse and CosmosDB
