Full Time Pretrial Services Adult Probation Officer
Starting Salary $43,896/year
Position Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 am - 4:30 pm, including rotating weekend hours
Position Summary
The Pretrial Services Probation Officer screens, evaluates and make recommendations to the courts for persons in custody. In addition, the officer supervises and monitors compliance based upon terms ordered by the courts. The Pretrial Services Probation Officer must maintain a high degree of confidentiality while being flexible and able to work non-traditional hours during the 37.5-hour work week as this position will entail a rotating schedule which includes early morning, evening, and weekend hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Possess a working knowledge of the Pretrial Services Act, Chapter 725 ILCS 185/(1-34), Illinois Bail Statutes, Chapter 725 ILCS 5/110/(1-18), the Illinois Pretrial Services Procedural and Operational Standards Manual, and the Standards on Pretrial Release approved by the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies (NAPSA).
Conduct Pretrial Assessments and Court Ordered Bond Reports
Accurately determine risk levels through completion of objective assessment scale
Recommendations to the court to be based upon all information received via the assessment and or bond report.
Proficient with EJS (case management system) and able to be LEADS certified
Screen police reports of cases involving victims to assess risk to public/victim safety before or after conducting assessment and or bond interview.
Proficient in communicating effectively with a diverse group of individuals utilizing motivational interviewing techniques,
Interact effectively with other units and divisions within court services regularly to ensure coordinated delivery of services.
Supervise and monitor client"s standard terms and special conditions of Pretrial Supervision
Conduct initial intake interviews and complete all necessary paperwork.
Attend any and all court hearings of assigned pretrial supervision cases
Provide the court with updated reports as to compliance of supervised defendants.
Promptly inform the State"s Attorney"s office of noncompliance to conditions of Pretrial Supervision, and make appropriate recommendations
Maintain daily operation of pretrial program responsibilities in the absence of the Pretrial Coordinator.
Participate and provide input in case staffing"s with Pretrial Coordinator and Deputy Director.
Participate in general staff meetings and trainings when requested to do so by Pretrial Coordinator and Deputy Director.

Required Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor"s Degree from an accredited university
Must be registered with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts approved hire list
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor"s Degree from an accredited university with major course work in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or a related field
Previous Customer Services experience or work in a related field
Physical Attributes/Demands
Ability to use a computer on a daily basis
Ability to effectively communicate on a daily basis
Ability to maintain high level of concentration
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with high level of accuracy under short deadlines
Ability to work non-traditional hours - weekends, early morning or evening hours, as needed
Work Environment
This position is primarily sedentary within an office environment located in the McLean County Law and Justice Center. The Pretrial Services Probation Officer shares a large office space among co-workers.
