Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
Our care and innovative approaches build on the latest research in the field. Many of our treatments were developed by internationally recognized leaders at UCSF. Our surgeons are also outstanding teachers, training the future doctors of tomorrow and conducting international outreach activities to enhance pediatric cardiothoracic care in the community. Our program also has an outstanding fellowship program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Experience planning large meetings and conferences
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent writing skills, including ability to communicate technical information and prepare complex documents with minimal assistance
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and customer service skills
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and maintain attention to detail in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet competing deadlines; Ability to follow detailed instructions from manager, clinical staff and faculty in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrated excellent reliability and attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of UCSF Accounting and School of Medicine policies/procedures on travel, meeting and entertainment; expenses, and purchasing and vendor payments.
- Prior Experience with independent editing and draft writing of scientific papers, abstracts or presentations and scientific research.
- Basic medical terminology and clinical writing experience
