Overview
The Office of Global Strategies is committed to internationalizing the campus community through academic and extracurricular endeavors, growing the international impact of The Catholic University of America as a global research institution, and supporting initiatives that engage faculty and students in research, teaching, and learning experiences throughout the world. Global Strategies also runs the Intensive English Program, the Rome Center and is an active partner of the Institute for Latin American and Iberian Studies.
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the Global Strategies Office, including support of the Institute for Latin American & Iberian Studies and its major pillar, the Oliveira Lima Library. Greet and direct visitors. Schedule/coordinate meetings and/or visits. Assists with routine office tasks to include replenishing of office supplies, inventory checks, set-up and clean-up of social functions within the office, pick-up and drop-off of mail at university Post Office.
Responsibilities
Answer and direct incoming calls to facilitate the Office of Global Strategies communications. Provide support as necessary to the Vice Provost with daily tasks. Attendance and assistance at the department (and its partners) functions. Support the Director of International Programs in the design and delivery of strategic events and programming initiatives. Update and maintain the Global Strategies website and social media accounts. Process invoices and payments for Global Strategies.
Interface between the Office of the Provost and the CatholicU community, provides exemplary customer support to students, administrators, faculty, and staff. Receives, routes, tracks, and completes requests submitted to the Office of the Provost. Conducts office activities in a professional manner. Provides word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software application support to the Office of the Provost. This includes production of correspondence, documents, files, and other written materials. Maintains the university’s International Travel Registry.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree and two to three years of experience in the field of international education, within a higher education setting, or working closely with universities. Ability to type. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Should be experienced in creating simple spreadsheets. Ability to learn and use new/updated computer software packages.
Must have a strong desire to provide a high level of service to administrators, faculty, students, and staff. Ability to initiate and follow through to completion various administrative tasks. Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions. Ability to organize work materials. Must have excellent attention to detail along with strong oral and writing skills.
