The Langston University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences was founded as and remains land-grant institution, committed to improving the quality-of-life for Oklahomans. Our research, teaching, and extension programs are part of a national system that maintains a statewide presence and links local, state, and global issues. Agriculture, food, and environmental systems are-key components of Oklahoma's economic engine, and LU is playing a prominent role in those areas with its programs. This is a 12-month staff position with a focus on assisting the research unit in the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (SAAS) to execute administrative responsibilities and empower the Research team to achieve important institutional goals. Excellent workplace attitude and affinity for superior customer service are requirements for this job. During the absence of the Dean's Assistant, provide direct support to the Deans Office.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support LU-SAAS Research Programs and Operations Management by providing broad administrative assistance through delegated office management assignments.
  • Provide administrative support to LU-SAAS Civil Right Officer
Perform specialized tasks requiring a high level of typing (60 wpm) and proofreading competency.
  • Support research faculty and staff with various research-related administrative tasks.
  • Assist with writing compiling and submitting research reports.
  • Writing form letters and letters of support.
  • Assist with the management, development, organization, and reporting of Grants.
  • Assist in timely SAAS and USDA report preparation & scheduling.
  • Assist in collating and summarizing monthly staff reports.
  • Maintain budget spreadsheets and produce succinct budget status reports.
  • Help manage all research related funded projects, grants, and proposals.
  • Work with administrators to develop monthly and annual updates and reports.
  • Oversee research and related databases, purchasing orders and travel requests.
  • Oversee Institutional grant routing.
  • Assist with conferences and training management.
  • Oversee tracking of facilities management.
  • Screening and processing incoming/outgoing US Postal and campus mail.
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education:

Post-secondary graduation from a recognized institution with an office administration or business diploma is an asset (or equivalent education and experience). A BS in business or a related concentration is preferred.

Working knowledge of computers, calculators, telephone system and office machinery
Familiar with the MS Office Suite, adobe, etc.
Familiar with project management and collaboration techniques
Ability to develop and manage spreadsheets.
Willingness to learn and grow
