At this time, we are looking for a Prototype and 3DP Technician to join us. In this role, you’ll work with several of the best-known Fortune 100 companies on innovative technologies and products.

About this Role

As a Prototype and 3DP Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the production of 3D printed prototypes and production parts. You will support our growing Additive Manufacturing services, delivering production and prototype printed parts for internal and external customers. You will work with our team and partners to have prototypes (3D Print, machined, etc) built quickly and effectively. Experience with a diverse and often urgent-paced team is beneficial. A detail focused eye for making high-quality parts is a must.


Basic Qualifications

  • Experience prepping, running, and post-processing 3D printed parts
  • 3D printing service bureau experience or technical degree desired
  • Able to troubleshoot 3D printing machines when something is not 'right'
  • Able to use common hand tools and shop equipment (files, rotary tool, drill)
  • Able to work with multiple vendors for parts, fasteners, outside processes
  • Attention to detail and a drive to produce high quality work

Technical Competencies and daily duties

  • Ability to use 3D printing pre-processing software from Carbon and FormLabs
  • Experience with Carbon or FormLabs 3D Printer highly desirable (DLP or SLA)
  • Remove supports and clean printed parts from Carbon and FormLabs printers
  • Modify CAD files, optimizing for the print process, providing design feedback
  • Post process parts while maintaining dimensional accuracy (filing, sanding, bead-blasting, etc.)
  • Quote parts for clients using Excel
  • Quality control and ship parts
  • Maintain a clean and safe production environment
  • Keep machines running to ensure on-time deliveries

Compensation and Benefits


This is an entry level position that can grow into a full-time or more advanced role as our A.M. business grows and develops. This position pays $20 – 24 per hour DOE. You will work minimum of 30+ hours per week or more as needed. Sherpa Design offers part-time employees the following benefits:
