Accounts Receivable Clerk Job at Summit Home Care and Hospice
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Hospice Billing/Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely completion and submission of Hospice Medicare and Medicaid patient billing. This position will also follow up on open accounts receivable for collection of payment from payers and to correct any issues resulting in unbilled claims.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accurately enters patient billing data, including visit charges and supply charges, into the information system.
2. Accurately process and bill Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient claims in accordance with payer requirements and organization policy.
3. Maintains complete and accurate billing and accounts receivable records.
4. Prepares Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient remittances for data entry.
5. Alerts appropriate management team members regarding late or missing documents required for billing.
6. Assists with the collection of receivables by monitoring accounts receivables, resubmitting bills to overdue accounts, and alerting the Billing management team of seriously overdue accounts.
7. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, and other customers.
8. Maintains the confidentiality of patient and organization information at all times.
9. Performs other specific projects relating to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least two (2) years experience in Hospice data entry, preferably in home health care systems.
2. At least three (3) years of previous health care related billing experience, preferably in hospice and/or home health care billing.
3. Current knowledge of Hospice and NOE billing requirements for Medicare.
4. High school graduate or equivalent.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Medicare Direct Data Entry (DDE)
- Knowledge of payer portals for billing and follow-up (Epic, Waystar-Zirmed, Availity)
- Knowledge of Kinnser/Waystar EMR is preferred
- Organization and attention to detail
