Then consider joining the Business Affairs Finance team as our next Accounting Assistant, in support of our Student Unions.

This position will join the finance team to ensure, protect and leverage financial assets of the Arizona Student Unions and UA Bookstore. A successful incumbent will assist with the accounts payable area and cash management systems and processes. They will assist with processing payments to vendors utilizing A/P blanket orders, disbursement vouchers, purchase orders and University purchasing cards; completing monthly reconciliation of purchasing accounts, vendor accounts and preparing daily deposits for the outlets they serve.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support the financial processing of cash for the Student Union and Bookstore, adhering to UA cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Assist with cash handling processes for both University outlets by preparing coin and bill packages using approved machinery. Coordinate the service of cash handling equipment as needed.
  • Complete financial forms for the reporting of cash counts and daily sales.
  • As a member of the finance team, support the timely and efficient coordination of the accounts payable processes.
  • Review and reconcile vendor invoices and account status.
  • Process payments to vendors through university systems and methods.
  • Receive and resolve queries from vendors, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reconcile multiple department purchasing cards, coordinating required documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures; including accounts payable, accounts receivable and data entry.
  • Skill in preparing reports and maintaining/creating Excel spreadsheets and databases.
  • Skill in reconciling and maintaining complete and accurate financial records.
  • Excellent data entry, and general math skills emphasizing accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
