Accounting Manager Job Summary
SmartStop Self Storage is looking for an experienced, dedicated Accounting Manager to join our team.
This position reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for managing the monthly property financial statement close process for approximately 75 self-storage properties, supervising 5 property accountants, maintaining internal controls, treasury, and internal/external reporting.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of the monthly financial statement close process and property level reporting.
- Coordinate and review monthly reporting from property accountants.
- Assist with Treasury responsibilities for all banking institutions.
- Manage, train, and develop property accountants.
- Support integration of new acquisitions.
- Coordinate and assist with external financial statement audits.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports for variance analysis.
- Prepare supplemental financial schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or comparable work experience.
- 5+ years of demonstrated success managing a team
- Experience in real estate account a plus
- Strong organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills a must.
- Be detailed oriented while multi-tasking in a fast-paced company
- Possess creative thinking and ability to resolve issues
- Must be hands-on and work effectively in a demanding environment
- Be able to adapt quickly to change
