Plans, supervises and coordinates the maintenance of all control accounting records for all funds of the City and County government; analyzes the effectiveness of the accounting system and procedures, and recommends revisions as necessary; prepares and supervises the preparation of financial statements and statistical and operating reports; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancy:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Finance Division, located in Honolulu. This position serves as the Accountant-in-charge of the Treasury Branch, and applies professional accounting principles and practices in overseeing the department's investment and debt program and the revenue and customer accounting program.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or in business administration with courses in accounting. (Note: At least 12 semester credits in accounting or auditing courses is needed, six of which must be above the beginning or elementary course level from an accredited four-year college or university).


Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit. Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript which shows the embossed seal to your application; or mail or drop off a photocopy of your diploma and/or official transcript to the following address: Department of Human Resources, 650 South King Street, 10th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813. Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree in accounting or in business administration with courses in accounting.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
Five years of professional accounting experience, three of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.


SUBSTITUTION: A Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university will substitute for one of the required five years of professional accounting experience. You must submit evidence of your Master's degree in Accounting in order to be given credit for the substitution. There is no substitution for the required supervisory experience.
