The Staff Accountant focuses on accounting and administrative processing. Duties include project accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Job Functions:
- Full scope of project financial management in our ERP (Microsoft Dynamics D365) for business unit specific contracts: booking, committed costs, revenue recognition, cash flow and timely close out of projects
- Manage working capital for the division through oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for savings and risk mitigation – early pay discount with vendors to collection from customers and reconcile variances in cash applications
- Process and clear invoices against project contracts or overhead as appropriate, resolving all discrepancies
- Complete new employee set-up, including time entry, Concur and uniforms and assign those employees to contracts for time entry and expense reports
- Provide training and ensure set up for new employees in Concur for expense reporting
- Process and post weekly time reporting for manufacturing facility, including research of entries and inquiries on overages with appropriate management groups
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers during project administration, problem solve project issues with minimal assistance, monitor PFR for proper cost application, project close out, etc.
- Maintain electronic files for all projects with appropriate documents including job cost tool, customer purchase order, vendor invoice(s), customer invoice(s), in accordance with standard procedures
- Monitoring and controlling inventory movements, overseeing physical and financial recordkeeping utilizing the D365 for inventory module
- Track key performance indicators and partner with the manager to reach departmental goals
- Solicit credit information for new customers
- Professional and effective communication with other Bastian Solutions business units for alignment
- Work with management to schedule and prioritize projects on a macro level; ability to prioritize individual tasks on your own
- Proven leadership– demonstrate positive and infectious attitude, mutual respect, motivate and promote overall teamwork
- Strong project accounting – monitor each contract and ensure accurate mapping of project financials
- Timely execution of assigned tasks with accuracy and strong communication channels
- Work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects thru to completion autonomously
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, develop and implement solutions
- Cross-train as back-up for the for coverage in the team across the manufacturing platform, peer mentor to other team members – inspires & influences others to action
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferred, business degree at minimum
- GAAP: 1 year (Preferred)
- General ledger reconciliation: 1 year (Preferred)
- A/P/R: 1 year (Preferred)
- Account reconciliation: 1 year (Preferred)
- Expense management: 1 year Location: One location
- Experience using Sage systems
- Demonstrate practical experience with ERP word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting software and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, expertise in MS Dynamics ERP preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well with diverse group of peers
- Self-motivated to work independently and balance workload assignments within time constraints
- Communicates in positive, respectful manner
- Ability to apply analytical and interpretive skills to problem solving
