Under limited supervision, performs a variety of accounting functions and prepares reconciliations for various ledger and subsidiary accounts. Reviews, directs, and validates financial and accounting transactions; and performs related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares journal entries and fund transfer requests.
2. Balances encumbrances, general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
3. Reconcile various general ledger accounts to supporting information provided by other departments.
4. Maintains documents and records associated with various business transactions including financial analyses, statements, and reports.
5. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year end close process.
6. Prepares and assists in preparing financial reports and analysis; maintains or assists in maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules for a variety of accounts.
7. Assists in the research, evaluation and implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Statements.8. Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy and makes correcting entries as required: examines supporting documentation to establish proper authorization and conformance with agreements, contracts and federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
9. Monitor remaining funding available for projects.
10. Ensure pay applications are in accordance with contract terms; prepares, process, and/or validate pay applications, requisitions, purchase orders, and check requests.
11. Reconcile vendor statements and pay applications; assists accounts payable with resolving and researching payment issues.
12. Compiles and maintains contract records including project status reports, inspection reports, notices to proceed, change orders and pay requests.
13. Assists with the preparation of correspondence, contract documents and project reports.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary
Depending on qualifications the starting salary for this position will be in the range of (Pay Grade 58):
$27.05 - $33.81 hourly

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required for this position and one (1) year of working related experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below.
A valid Florida driver's license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days from date of employment.
Education Requirements: To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by:

State of Emergency: When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work, and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
The City of West Palm Beach allows remote work assignments for certain job classifications and under certain conditions in accordance with Remote Work Policy 4-20.
