4-H Leadership Development Assistant Job at Calumet County, WI
This is a limited Term Employment position, under the general direction of the 4-H Youth Program Educator. As a member of the county Extension office team, this position is designed to support 4-H youth leadership development opportunities. The 4-H Leadership Development Assistant is expected to contribute the following skills to the office, including, but not limited to: 4-H program support, community partnerships, volunteer development, marketing UW-Extension services, and the 4-H Youth Development Educator responsibilities. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support the UW Extension 4-H Youth Development program needs.
Work with Calumet County 4-H clubs to develop and implement member retention efforts.
Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of youth development programs that benefit the 4-H program and Calumet County youth.
Promote/market the 4-H program, within the organization and throughout the community as opportunities become available. Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training efforts to enhance opportunities for Calumet County youth.
Work with educators and staff to organize and implement club officer training and lead volunteer training sessions throughout the year.
Work with 4-H volunteers to organize, implement and lead activity/project days for youth.
Work with educators, staff and 4-H volunteers to plan summer camp and train camp staff.
Work with community partners to implement youth development programming.

Education and/or Experience
Two years or more of post-high school education in a related program; successful leadership experience in 4-H and/or the community; 4-H experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
This is an entry level position requiring significant contact with the public and strong communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively carry out complex oral and written instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with individuals or before groups of 4-H members, the 4-H Leaders Council Board of Directors, employees of the County, or the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office programs and social media
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None.Special RequirementAbility to make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. A valid driver's license is preferred.
Ability to schedule evening, overnight and weekend work.
